Markers to CueList

Markers to CueList

It has never been easier to create a timecode based cue list. Simply start a new project in Reaper* and add your markers. Load this list into Markers to CueList and create a GrandMA2 Macro. Finally all you have to do, is to run this macro onto your console and you're done.

Reaper even provides a SMPTE LTC Timecode Generator, so that you can keep your cue lists perfectly in sync with your project file.

You can also create your cue lists from Spreadsheets. Just open any Excel File and upload it's content as a cue list into the GrandMA2.

*Reaper can be downloaded at www.reaper.fm

Creating Markers

In Reaper it is very easy to create markers. Simply start your project, add an audio or video track and insert a SMPTE LTC Timecode Generator Track. Set the project start time and the SMPTE Generator start time to the same values and begin adding your markers by pressing Shift+M. You can directly label them and optional add a color to get an better overview in your cue list.

Markers to CueList has an inbuilt macro language. You can access additional parameters such as fade times, infos or commands by extending the marker name. For an example a marker called: "Video Start|f=3.2" will create a cue named "Video Start" with an in-fade of 3.2 seconds. Take a look at the macro syntax documentation...

With Markers to CueList Reaper could also be remote controlled by DMX (sACN). This gives you the functionality to jump to dedicated timecode positions, control playback and walk through the project by selecting a marker by it's id number. See a full list of DMX features here...

Getting Markers into the GrandMA 2

After exporting a marker list from Reaper, open Markes to CueList and load the exported file. Now setup some cue list details, such as a name for the cue list, it's number in the sequence pool, the page and executor number the cue list should assigned to and finally a timecode pool number and the project frame rate.

When this is done you can either send this cue list via network to the console (watch Video) or click on "Export CueList", select the "gma2" folder on your GrandMA2 compatible thumb drive and click "OK".

Finally all you have to do, is to load the generated macro with your cue list name into your console by opening "Setup->Import Export -> Import Macro" and fire it. You will now have a cue list assigned to the executor you have specified in Markers to CueList.
